Further, column is constructed monolithically with other concrete members and its actual behavior is unlikely to be a true hinge.&nbsp; As such, exercise extreme care when deciding to hinge a concrete column at any end (never both ends at the same time).&nbsp;<\/span>\n   <\/div>\n<p><\/span>\n <\/div>\n<div>\n  <span><span class=\"colour\">The general procedure to check for these instabilities are outline below :&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<ol><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">If you receive singularity or large deformation warning during building analysis, print it out (click Print).&nbsp; &nbsp;<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">Allow the analysis to run to completion<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">Click on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.protasoftware.com\/portal\/en\/kb\/articles\/post-analysis-ps-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Analytical Model<\/a>&nbsp;icon in &quot;Analysis&quot; top ribbon Post Analysis to check the actual analytical model and the results graphically.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">Use the \u201c<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">Find<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">\u201d icon to find the node\/joint&nbsp; (example shown below)&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"target_moving\" id=\"target_mov_img_9019321454801867\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"colour\">You can also switch on \u201c<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">Label<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">\u201d = member label in the Elements Tab to identify the actual member class=\"colour\">Results<\/span><\/i><\/b><span class=\"colour\">&nbsp;tab<\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/ol>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<ol><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: circle\"><span class=\"colour\">If there large deformation, the default scale may not show clearly the actual deflection<\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: circle\"><span class=\"colour\">Click&nbsp;<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">Increase or Reduce&nbsp;Scale<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">&nbsp;to improve visualization<\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n  <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: circle\"><span class=\"colour\">Alternatively, in the<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">&nbsp;View Settings<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">, expand the \u201c<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">Displacement<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">\u201d folder and manually override the scale by unchecking \u201c<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">Auto Scale<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">\u201d and then manually key in the \u201c<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">Scale\u201d<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/ol>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<div><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n  <\/span><img decoding=\"async\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">If the displacement is too big or unexpected, then it\u2019s not meaningful to look at the forces as the model is unstable or wrongly set up.&nbsp; <\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<p><span class=\"colour\"><br \/>\n <\/span><\/p>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">After verify the displacement, then it\u2019s meaningful to inspect the forces by activating \u201c<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">Diagrams<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">\u201d in the Results tab.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><br \/><img decoding=\"async\"
