The active storey can be selected using the &quot;Select Storey&quot; option or directly double left-click on the label of the storey you want to make current. For example, when beam &quot;1B20&quot; is copied to the 3rd floor, the new beam will have the label &quot;3B20&quot;. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Member_Types_to_be_Generated\"><span class=\"colour\">Member Types to be Generated<br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">You can use the member type filters to filter out the members that are not to be generated to the target storey. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Delete_Storey_Information\"><span class=\"colour\">Delete Storey Information<br \/><\/span><\/h2>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">All the information in a given storey can be deleted using the &quot;Delete Storey Information&quot;. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">Highlight the storey(s) from the table to be deleted and press &quot;OK&quot;. For more information you can refer to&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.protasoftware.com\/portal\/en\/kb\/articles\/rigid-zone-created-in-column-when-beam-depth-more-or-equal-than-storey-height\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rigid Link Created in Column when Beam Depth is More or Equal to the Storey Height<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Level\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Level&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">This is the storey top reference level that is automatically calculated based on the <\/span><i><b><span class=\"colour\">S<\/span><\/b><\/i><b><i><span class=\"colour\">torey Height<\/span><\/i><\/b><span class=\"colour\"> &amp; <\/span><i><b><span class=\"colour\">1st Storey Bottom Level<\/span><\/b><\/i><span class=\"colour\"> <\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">input field at the bottom of the dialog. This field cannot be modified manually as it must be auto-calculated.&nbsp; <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">The reference levels information can be shown in the plan \/ layout &amp; beam detailing drawings.&nbsp; It does not affect the analysis at all.&nbsp; <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"1st_Storey_Bottom_Level\"><span class=\"colour\">1st Storey Bottom Level<br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">As explained above, reference levels of the floors are auto-calculated using this &quot;1st Storey Bottom Level&quot; field.&nbsp; All the upper storeys will be auto-calculated using this reference level.&nbsp; <\/span><span><span class=\"colour\">Similar to&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"> <\/span><i><b><span class=\"colour\">Levels<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">, <\/span><\/i><span class=\"colour\"> <\/span><span><span class=\"colour\">this value does not affect the analysis at all.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"> <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Storey_Label\"><span class=\"colour\">Storey Label<br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">Structural members defined in a particular storey are generated using the storey label associated to that storey.&nbsp; <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">For example, if the 1st storey label is defined as &quot;1&quot;, then the beams will be created as &quot;1B1&quot;, &quot;1B2&quot;, etc. in this storey. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Storey_Description\"><span class=\"colour\">Storey Description<br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">The description of a particular floor of the building is specified here. For example, Ground floor, Roof and etc.<br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Storey_Type\"><span class=\"colour\">Storey Type<br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">When &quot;<i>Intermediate<\/i>&quot; is selected,&nbsp;program will enable you to designate it as an intermediate storey, excluding it from irregularity checks while still considering the full stiffness, mass, and load in the building analysis.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Plane_width_D1_and_D2\"><span style=\"font-size: 15px\" class=\"size\"><span style=\"font-size: 18px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Plane width (D1 and D2)<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">D1: Plane width parallel to the primary earthquake loading direction. Used in Eccentricity calculation and top level earthquake load. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">D2: Plane width perpendicular to the primary earthquake loading direction. Used in Eccentricity calculation and top level earthquake load. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">These values are automatically determined based on the model plan dimensions. Values can be manually re-entered.&nbsp; <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Total_wall_area_Wall_1_and_Wall_2\"><span class=\"colour\">Total wall area (Wall 1 and Wall 2)<br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">W1: Total wall area of the storey along earthquake direction 1. Used in weak storey irregularity check. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">W2: Total wall area of the storey along earthquake direction 2. Used in weak storey irregularity check. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">These values are not automatically determined and must be entered by the user if seismic analysis is performed.&nbsp; <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Imposed_Load_Reduction\"><span class=\"colour\">Imposed Load Reduction<br \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">Imposed load reduction can be applied to each storey by entering reduction percentages for each storey in the table.&nbsp; <\/span><span><span class=\"colour\">The input are percentages, so key in 10 for 10% reduction.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"> <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">Imposed load reduction will only affect the design of columns, walls and foundation as stated in the relevant code of practise. <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span class=\"colour\">At the bottom dialog, under the same header, automatic suggested reduction can be done by clicking on \u201cApply\u201d under Imposed Load Reduction :<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"> <br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">If \u201cAssume Roof as Normal Storey\u201d is checked, then reduction starts form the level below the roof&nbsp; (means roof storey reduction will be 0%)<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">If \u201cAssume Roof as Normal Storey\u201d is unchecked, then reduction starts 2 levels below the roof (means roof storey and the next storey below reduction will be 0%)<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc\"><span class=\"colour\">Please note automatic reduction must be used with care; it\u2019s the engineers responsibility to ensure the suggested values are correct in accordance with the code of practice<br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div><span><span class=\"colour\">If you modify any of the imposed load reduction factors, a warning note will appear reminding to save the project according to the new values specified.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Example_of_Imposed_Load_Reduction\"><span class=\"colour\">Example of Imposed Load Reduction<\/span><br \/><\/h3>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">In this example, we will set the following imposed load reduction, i.e.&nbsp; &amp; ST01 = 20%,&nbsp;<\/span><span><span class=\"colour\">ST02 = 10%, ST03 &amp; ST04 = 0%&nbsp; (as shown below)<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"max-width: 100%;height: auto;padding: 0\" src=\"https:\/\/protasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/prota-doc-a1d0a56931870ed7b94c2d6047b77eb6.png\"><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">After running the analysis we can check the axial load of column from various sources, example <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.protasoftware.com\/portal\/en\/kb\/articles\/post-analysis-ps-2022\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Analytical Mode<\/a>l, showing the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.protasoftware.com\/portal\/en\/kb\/articles\/detailed-design-diagram-ps-2022\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Analysis Results Diagram&nbsp;<\/a>or simply displaying the axial force on the plan view via <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.protasoftware.com\/portal\/en\/kb\/articles\/3-d-view#Active_Windows_Setting_and_Visual_Interrogation\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Visual Interrogation<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">Lets assume the following :&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: square\"><span class=\"colour\">Analysis axial load, <b>N<\/b>&nbsp;of a column in ST01 is, G = 100 kN and Q = 50 kN.&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: square\"><span><span class=\"colour\">The design load combination 1 is <b>[1.4 G + 1.6 Q]<\/b><\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div><span><span class=\"colour\">&nbsp;The design load combination will always automatically take into account the imposed load reduction. The calculation is as follows :&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: square\"><span><span class=\"colour\">Imposed Load Reduction for ST01 is <b>20%<\/b>.
