Besides these, calculations are also performed based on coefficient of subgrade reaction interval.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 20px\"><span class=\"font\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Before inserting a footing:<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: decimal\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">The building model must be completed and analysed, so that the column and wall axial loads and moments are determined.<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: decimal\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">The foundation storey 0 (<\/span><b><span class=\"colour\">ST: 0<\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\">) must be set as the current storey.<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Strip_Footing_Definition\"><span class=\"colour\"><span style=\"font-size: 24px;line-height: normal\" class=\"size\">Strip Footing Definition<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"line-height: 20px\"><span class=\"font\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">To define a new Strip Footing:<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"zde_indent\">\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">1. Insert the foundation beam(s) that will be used in the strip footing by going to top &quot;Modelling&quot; tab &gt; Beam &gt; Foundation Beam<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The beams must be defined such that vertical members (i.e. columns and walls) are covered in the strip footing (at their bottom endpoints).<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">2. Multiple select all the beams that will be included in the strip footing. (Note that, beams can be selected in any order)<\/span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">3. Right-click to display the shortcut menu and select &quot;<\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Insert Strip Footing<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">&quot; option. These beams must be defined based on the following rules and constraints:<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 14px;line-height: 20px\"><u><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Beam Dimensions and Eccentricities<\/span><\/span><\/u><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"line-height: 20px\"><span class=\"font\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">The dimensions of the beams included in a strip footing must be identical. Calculations can be done either for all load combinations or for an envelope of all load combinations. Also, envelope calculation can be done for an interval of coefficient of subgrade reaction.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 20px\"><span class=\"font\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">In order to determine concrete grades, steel grades and rebar size that will be used in Strip Footing Design, first pick \u201c<\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Materials<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">\u201d option in \u201c<\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Building setout<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">\u201d tab. Do not reduce the width over-wise it will be insufficient.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: square\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;line-height: normal\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">If the footing width is modified, click &quot;Design&quot; to recheck the design; followed by re-generating the Design report.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: decimal\"><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px;line-height: normal\">You can perform the design of the foundation beams by selecting \u201cFoundation Beams\u201d in \u201cDesign\u201d tab.<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 14px;line-height: 20px\"><u><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Selection of Soil Stress for Calculating the Footing Width<\/span><\/span><\/u><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/h4>\n<p style=\"line-height: 20px\"><span class=\"font\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Prior to commencing the design of the strip footing, it\u2019s necessary to determine the method of which soil pressure under the footing will be calculated.&nbsp; For this purpose, select the appropriate method among the methods given in the \u201cSoil Pressure Selection Criteria for Calculating the Footing Width\u201d field.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 20px\"><span class=\"font\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Default method is \u201c<\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Maximum Soil Stress<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">\u201d that is used normally for soft soil. Especially for firm soil, other methods, namely, \u201c<\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Average in L\/4 Column Region<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">\u201d, \u201c<\/span><\/span><i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">Average in L\/2 Column Region<\/span><\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-size: 16px\" class=\"size\"><span class=\"colour\">\u201d can also be used.
