As shown above, the discontinuous walls and columns are shown in a different color (blue) on the plan view of ST01.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"colour\">For more guidance refer to :&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/support.protasoftware.com\/portal\/en\/kb\/articles\/how-do-show-transfer-discontinuous-columns-and-walls-on-plan-view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How to show transfer or discontinuous columns and Walls on Plan view<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<h1 class=\"toc_anchors\" id=\"Building_Analysis\"><span class=\"colour\">Building Analysis&nbsp;<\/span><\/h1>\n<div><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\">The analysis of the transfer plate can be included together with the building analysis :<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 10px;padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px;font-size: 14px\">\n<div><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\">In the default analysis, the slabs are excluded from the analysis and only frame elements are considered (i.e. beams + columns + walls). &nbsp;<br \/><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<div><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\">The slab loads are calculated and decomposed to the beams before the analysis.<br \/><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<div><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\">&nbsp;Hence, if the model has a transfer slab supporting discontinuous columns and walls directly, the model will be unstable, since there are no frames (i.e. beams)&nbsp;to supports these discontinuous wall members.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/li>\n<div><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/div>\n<\/ul>\n<div><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/div>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10px;line-height: 20px\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\">Therefore, in situation where the model has&nbsp;transfer slabs, the slabs will need to be&nbsp;considered &amp; included&nbsp;in the building analysis by meshing that particular&nbsp;floor slab: &nbsp;<\/span><\/span><span class=\"colour\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/div>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 10px;padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px;font-size: 14px\">\n<div><span class=\"colour\"><\/span><\/div>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\">Go Building Analysis menu &gt; click on<\/span><\/span><i><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/i><b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Member Tables&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">&gt;&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Wall Table&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">&gt; change the&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Analysis Model<\/span><\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">&nbsp;for the walls to<\/span><\/span><i><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">FE Shell Model.<\/span><\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/i><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">(Example as shown below)<\/span><\/span><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding: 0px;max-width: 100%\" src=\"https:\/\/protasoftware.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/prota-doc-8bb7c8b1c98ade31f1b18a85cb099ee2.png\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul style=\"margin-top: 0px;margin-bottom: 10px;padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px;font-size: 14px\">\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">If your PC meets the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/support.protasoftware.com\/portal\/en\/kb\/articles\/hardware-system-requirements-for-protastructure-suite\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Recommended Hardware Specification<\/a>, we recommend you also use FE Shell assumption for the transfer walls at all storeys above, so that assumption is consistent.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">However, if the analysis fails to run due to too many shells, other walls in floors above may be analyzed as&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">Mid-Pier&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/b><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">walls, i.e. set Analysis Model to &quot;<b>Default<\/b>&quot;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\">In the same wall table, ensure &quot;<b>Transfer Member<\/b>&quot; is checked for the transfer wall at the transfer level only.&nbsp; This will suppress the warning of unsupported wall during Building Analysis.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"padding-top: 6px;padding-bottom: 6px\"><span class=\"size\" style=\"font-size: 16px\"><span class=\"colour\"><span class=\"highlight\">In Building Analysis menu &gt;
